Water Month Activities

The following towns were visited during water month, Trompsburg, Botshabelo,  Hennenman, Wepener, Kathu and Kuruman. The emphasis was on awareness of the communities on water conservation, vandalism of infrastructure and taking care of the environment. The campaigns were in the form of activations mainly at taxi ranks. This was in collaboration with Municipalities, Department of Water and Sanitation as well as Government Communications Information Systems.

World Water Day

Minister for Water and Sanitation Ms. P. Majodina, Deputy Ministers Mr. D. Mahlobo and Mr. S. Seitlholo visited Matjhabeng Local Municipality to handover twenty-two (22) sanitation projects that were implemented by Vaal Central Water in the area. The Matjhabeng LM had a challenge of collapsed wastewater treatment works in most of the treatment works if not all, the Ministry intervened in providing support to the municipality to assist with refurbishment of the treatment works in Welkom and Odendaalsrus. The 22 are complete and handed over to the municipality on 22 March 2026 whilst working on finishing the outstanding ones.  This is a relief to the communities as the sewerage was running in the streets, after completion of all the sewerage will be thing of the past.

Plant Tour

The Communication and Marketing unit organized a plant tour for learners from Nametsegang Secondary School at Vaal Gamagara plant to learn more on water purification process, how does laboratory work and learn more on careers available at Vaal Central Water to assist them to make subject choices.  The initiative is to encourage learners to choose subjects in water-related fields to increase the scarcity of engineers and other related careers in the water sector.

Retirement Function

 

Vaal Central Water host retirement function to its retired employees to bid farewell and thank them for the contributions made in the entity. The Board and management attend the event and furnish the retirees with gifts and tokens of appreciation for their sterling work during their tenure.
